Coverage For Long Distance Moving Jobs

Please read the important information given below regarding the coverage of damage to your goods during removal. The limited liability which is explained in detail below is not an insurance agreement governed by state insurance laws, but instead is authorized under Released Rates Orders of the Surface Transportation Board of the US DOT.

It is a requirement of the move that you accept the terms of the limited liability coverage before the movers can begin work.

While your belongings are in the care of Done Right Moving and Storage we will do our utmost to handle them with all due care and attention. We can’t accept liability for any damage caused to goods as a result of faulty or poor packaging of boxes that were not packed by us. Liability on such packages will only be considered if it can be shown that we were negligent in handling such boxes. Unless evidence, such as damage to the exterior of boxes can be provided, then no liability will be accepted.

Additionally, no responsibility is accepted for the internal workings of electronic or mechanical products, whether the packing of such items was carried out by us or not. There are materials used in the construction of some items that are not able to withstand disassembly and reassembly without risk of damage. These include particleboard, pressboard and other manufactured woods. This means that we might have to refuse liability for any products made from these or similar materials and for any defects or faults that are already present before the move.

We would advise you to check any homeowners’ coverage that you might have as it might make available cover for a move in addition or instead of the limited liability explained here.

LIMITED LIABILITY $0.60/lb per article:   (As explained above this is not insurance)

The maximum liability of Done Right Moving and Storage is limited to $0.60 per pound per article in relation to any damage or loss. There is no extra charge for this coverage as it is included in the rate quoted for the move.

For example if an item weighing 30 lbs. was lost or damaged, we would be liable to the customer for a total of  $18.00, (30lbs. x $0.60 = $18.00).
